Brecken is almost one!  He is almost walking and getting into everything.  I like how he doesn't even flinch when he knocks things over...  You can also see the look of excitement in his eye when we are telling him not to touch something or just before he start crawling as fast as he can to get anything that is plugged in!

Phil and I went out for the first time since Brecken was born, the house and Brecken set our dating scene back a bit :)  We went to see Alanis, she is a great singer but the concert wasn't the greatest.  She kept putting her head down for several minutes at a time (a little strange) and Phil kept asking me "what is she doing"??? hahahaha  Either way it was fun to get out and do some grown up things, of course we missed Brecken but he was safe at home with his Grandparents!

Phil has started on our basement!  The sheetrock is up and now we are just waiting on the plumbers.  It will be nice to have a toy area and just more space during the winter months inside. I also can't wait to get the treadmill out of the living room upstairs, it looks so nice in the corner next to the couch...

Happy Fall!

Yeah, it's fall!  Fall is my favorite season, I love 70 degree days with cooler nights.  Nothing too exciting happening at the Marten house.  We are coming to the end of our outdoor projects so we are happy that we could get most of that done this year.  Now on to the basement!  

Brecken is getting so big!  We think he weighs around 24lbs and he is getting super long.  He has a grand total of 7 teeth now and his hair is starting to grow a bit more.  He loves crawling all over the place and is always pulling himself up on everything.  We are sure he will be walking soon as he gets more brave everyday with letting go of whatever he is walking along holding, he use to get frustrated when he fell but now he just falls on his butt and gets right back up.  Whenever Brecken is around Landon or other kids he just loves to watch everything they do, we can see the wheels turning...  There is know way that he is almost 1 already, of course as a first time Mom I am already thinking of all of the cute things that I want to do for his big birthday!  

On August 8th Neil and Amber welcomed their daughter Lilly Ann.  She is such a cutie and looks very different from Landon, looks like Landon is going to take after Amber and Lilly will take after Neil.  It is so weird that Brecken isn't the "baby" anymore in our family!

Cain started 6th grade this fall in Bloomington.  He lives with his Dad and spends lots of time with my Mom.  We are all heading up to the cabin this weekend so maybe we can convince Cain to start babysitting???

Hi Everyone.  Yes, I know it is a shock that I am actually updating this...  Things are going good with us.  We have been busy with fun summer activities and trying to finish up little jobs all over our house.  Brecken keeps us the busiest, especially now that he is crawling all over the place!  I guess it is time to put everything away that we don't want broken or chewed on...do chairs really taste that good??  

Brecken will be 9 months this week so we are heading in to the doctor for this check up and shots, at 6 months he fought the shots pretty good, I can't imagine what this appointment will be like, every day he gets a bit wilder!  Phil also thinks that Brecken has his mother's temper, please...

I have also attached one picture of the house, more landscaping to come but we are on our way!

Summer is finally here!

It cannot be the middle of June already.  I know I keep saying that time is flying by but it truly is!  We have been keeping busy with work and working on our house.  Phil is in the process of tearing up our whole yard to redo our sprinkler system and to fix the tracks in the yard from all the construction.  Hopefully in a couple weeks our yard will be done and our front patio will be poured, weird to think we are redoing our yard and landscaping, something I never thought we would be doing again!

Brecken is growing like a weed.  Hard to believe that he 7 1/2 months old already.  He has 5 teeth now and chews on anything he can get his chubby hands on.  He is getting so big that we are moving him out of his infant car seat and into a bigger one...how can he be getting that big already???  I recently purchased a new camera so I can take better action shots...and Brecken thought I was annoying with a camera before! 

We celebrated Father's day with Phil's family, the family played games out side while Brecken and I took a 3 hour nap (my kind of fun these days).  Memorial weekend we were introduced to the fun of an ear infection, holy cow was that stressful.  We thought he was teething but it turned out he had an ear infection AND he was teething.  Thank God for antibiotics and Tylenol.

Since we have been sticking close to home the last couple of weekends we will be heading to the cabin for a long weekend over the 4th.  Hopefully the weather is nice so Brecken can take his first pontoon ride (with 6 life jackets on him).  We haven't been fishing yet this year so it will be nice to dust off the rods and see how many lures we can lose!

I can't believe it's Memorial weekend this coming weekend!  May has been a very busy month for us so we are looking forward to going to the cabin for a couple extra days this weekend.  We haven't been able to go up as much but hopefully that will change soon.

Brecken is already 6 1/2 months old!  At his 6 month check up he weighed 19lbs 2.5oz and was 25.9" long.  He also has two very cute bottom teeth...just watch your fingers...  Brecken is also rolling over back and forth now, this keeps Phil up all night because he is continuously getting up in the middle of the night to un-weave Brecken's legs from the crib spindles....fortunately I can sleep through anything when I am super tired!

This last weekend we had fun hanging out with friends at Molly's wedding in St. James and we also got to visit my family in Mankato.  To top the weekend off we went to our friend Tiffany's birthday party in Rochester.  Brecken travels really good, I just need to remember that we don't need to pack everything we own!

I am so glad it is finally getting nice out so we can go for walks, hopefully I can walk off some extra weight now!

I can't believe that Brecken is almost 6 months old!  We saw his first tooth this last weekend!  He has been drooling and chewing on his hands for months and now he seems a little less irritated now that it's through.  He also has been rolling over for the past month, of course I freaked out and practically watched him sleep because now he won't sleep on his back.  Other than that he likes going to day care (our neighbor's house) and enjoys having her son entertain him throughout the day.  We are very lucky that she is so good with him!

Phil has started on our numerous yard projects; I will post some pictures when he gets further along with the progress.  We are adding a patio in the front along with a sidewalk, re-seeding the whole yard, and adding a larger patio in the back.  As soon as we are done putting all the rock on the front of the house I will post a picture of the house too, it's the same color just a different design.

We have a lot of parties, showers, and weddings coming up so we are looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  Neil, Amber & Landon came to visit for my birthday and for Easter.  Landon loves playing with all of Brecken's toy and loves running all over the house.  We have not baby proofed everything so Landon is going wild grabbing anything he can find.  Mom and Cain also came to visit, good thing Cain has the energy to chase Landon.

We had friends over for my birthday on Friday, we all have small children so we thought it would be easier than going out to eat.  30 doesn't seem to bother me but 40 might be a different story!
